How Do I Know if Mediation is Right for Me?

Mediation is right for you if:

  1. There are no serious issues of violence or abuse.
  2. The grieving process over your separation is ongoing or complete for both parties but you can face each other and negotiate with each other.
  3. You are willing to keep an open mind and listen to the person’s concerns.
  4. You are willing to voice your own concerns.
  5. You are willing to work out a solution with the other person.
  6. You are willing to meet with the other person in face to face discussions with the mediator present.
  7. You are willing to communicate with your spouse or other person in mediation.
  8. You want to stop the fighting, wish to avoid court and work out a deal. You wish to settle your dispute.
  9. You agree to provide full disclosure of assets, liabilities, income and other relevant information and documents.
  10. You understand that there are various options to dealing with conflict and have decided that mediation seems right for you.
